Dear diary,

I won! I won the Academic Cup for coming top of my room! This is as close as you get to being top of the class in this touchy-feely, nobody-left-behind age. And at 8.12 I am young for the room, too.

Mrs McCain started the announcement with "It's a boy this year, one who does not think he is good at things including maths and words, but he is." I thought I recognised that line, she'd said it to Mum, so I thought it just might be me, and it was.

I wonder if it's the car or the cup that attracts the girls?
