Ceiling fans have been installed in the bedrooms that
have South-facing windows.
Although the roof is insulated, the bedrooms get hot in Summer.
In fact the attic becomes unbearably hot, quite literally,
and in spite of ventilation, so the insulation works.
In Winter, the fans reverse to push down, and then they
circulate the warm air that otherwise rises.
Two of the bedrooms did not previously have lights mounted
on the ceiling, so we chose fans with light fittings. This
can be useful for those occasions when you need a lot of light
in a bedroom, and the fittings accept the high-efficiency
globes easily.
