Kay and Meri Being Patriotic

This is a very short exhibition.
We have adopted the American habit of displaying a flag. Quite a lot of houses show one continuously, and most have flagpole holders that see use on special days. The everyday flag may be a simple coloured pattern as an ornament; sometimes a set of such designs are rotated as in the case of our neighbour Ellen.

Of course, the American Flag is flown on National days. Except of course by a few rebels; John flies the Union Jack, which makes picking his house easy. We fly the Australian flag.

We recently upgraded the pole from the recycled nasty curtain rail, and added a small flag atop the Aussie one, for Merinda:

Here you see me testing the look with the flags one story up. (We eventually settled for ground floor.) The thing to note---and you can just make it out in the photo---is the teeny US flag above the Australian one... for Merinda.

Before we put the flags up, Kay and Meri were fooling around in the garden with them. Meri has the cute act down pat! Talk about being torn... Australian heritage, but she's a Yank right down to her favourite hand grenade, see diary.
